I
have been practicing taxidermy for as long as I can remember. At
the age of 12 I took a taxidermy correspondence course with the goal of
becoming a taxidermist. I also have always had a passion for the
outdoors and especially hunting. So coming up with the name Outdoor
Passions Taxidermy Studio was very easy. As a child, I spent every
minute I could in the woods hunting. I would then spend hours mounting
my trophies. 18 years ago, I decided to join the US Air Force to
get an education. I have practiced taxidermy during my Air Force
service continuously. It has been a hobby for my own use, as well
as doing the taxidermy work for my family and friends. I still love
it as much as ever. With my Air Force career winding down, I decided
to turn my passion for taxidermy into a business.
I
have just been stationed here in Fayetteville, a few miles south of Fort
Bragg, and about an hour south of Raleigh, and about 30 minutes north of
Lumberton. I provide a wide range of taxidermy services for residents
of Cumberland County and the surrounding areas. I have attended countless
classes and seminars on every aspect of taxidermy. I read everything
I can get my hands on, and have trained under a number of professional
taxidermists.
I
have won a number of taxidermy awards including a second place for a life
size coyote mount at the Surry Community College seminars and competition
in May 2007. Several of my mounts are on display at the new Gander
Mountain in Fayetteville, as well as Dick’s Sporting Goods, also in Fayetteville.
Each
and every specimen I take in receives the same care I would give a trophy
I was hanging on the wall of my own home. I am not trying to do a
huge quantity of mounts, nor am I trying to be the cheapest taxidermist
in the area. I know the countless hours that are put in the woods
in search of a trophy. I am committed to taking in that trophy and
duplicating it as closely as possible to it’s original state. Each
hide is professionally tanned and a leather hide is mounted on the best
forms, and best materials available. My mounts will look as good
in 20 years as they do the day they leave my shop. I do not take any shortcuts
as I preserve your trophy into a mount you will be proud to display in
your home. I work on one mount at a time, and give it the attention
to detail it deserves. Every animal is custom mounted per the owner’s
request. I specialize in custom habitats, and can build you a very
simple habitat all the way up to an entire game room to display your memories
from the field.
I
can do simple projects like mounting a set of antlers to a plaque, all
the way to life-size mounts of the largest North American game. I
have extensive experience with game heads, as well as life size mounts,
especially coyotes, bobcats, and raccoons.
Feel
free to browse the website, and take a look at some of my work. Do
not hesitate to call me if you have any questions. I take pride in
my work, and will do my best to deliver an outstanding product.
